Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in Windermere, Florida, Alberto Lugo Royo obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of law. During his studies, Alberto Lugo Royo provided legal services to dozens of indigent clients. Alberto Lugo Royo began working in Immigration as a law student through the Refugee Immigration Project in Jacksonville, FL where he worked on applications and conducted legal research for indigent clients. Mr. Lugo Royo also helped organize and run Citizenship Day in Jacksonville, FL, where over 100 applications for Naturalization were prepared. Mr. Lugo Royo was also a Senior Clinician at the Florida Coastal School of Law Immigrant and Human Rights Clinic, where he represented clients of many nationalities in variety of immigration contexts, including naturalization, asylum and family immigration. In his final year of Law school Mr. Lugo Royo served as in intern at the Criminal Defense Section of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, where he wrote appeals as part of War Crimes proceedings.

He was admitted to practice law in the state of Florida in April 2015 and after a brief period with a law firm in downtown Orlando, joined the Law Office of Maud Poudat.

Mr. Lugo Royo speaks English, Spanish, French and Portuguese with varying degrees of fluency.
In his spare time, Mr. Lugo Royo enjoys biking, kayaking, archery, paddle boarding, and studying languages and history.
